With over 20 years of experience both working in the fitness industry and competing in high level and international sport, Dimi has seen first hand what the human body is capable of.
Combined with personal experience, her education gives her the understanding to know how to help people achieve their goals and to set realistic expectations around working towards them.
"The human body can be truly amazing if we allow ourselves to believe it. Only then can we unlock a whole new level of greatness".
As a young athlete I was always told that I wasn't going to make it as I was too "fat". It was confusing at the time because no one ever gave me the tools to fix it. It just became constant noise in my life and I got use to hearing it.
At around 15 I decided to take matters into my own hands. I would get up before school and run, I'd train in the afternoons and go to the gym on weekends. Things turned for me and I started making more rep teams and eventually made the national squad by 17. From that point I realised no one was ever going to help me achieve what I wanted, I had to do it myself.
No one gave me the tools to do what I did, I just did it on my own and know how hard it is. From that point I knew that one day I'd help give people the tools they needed to reach their goals with no judgment.
When I was coming to the end of my sporting career I found it very difficult to train for fun. I'd never trained for general health before, it was always for a competitive goal.
A year went by and I found myself slipping into unhealthy habits. I thought if I wasn't training for hours each day it wasn't good enough.
Some people define fitness by what they see others doing and others like myself, define it by what we use to be. Both notions feel the same and both leave you feeling empty.
I started to lift weights and walk. Once upon a time it wouldn't have been enough for me, but today it feels like everything and keeps me motivated.
Re-evaluating my why is what keeps me moving forward and helps empathise with others struggling. All it takes is one person to understand what you're feeling and help you sort out what it is you really want, because training is for everyone.
